VACUUM

VACUUM is a performance with quadrophone sound, dance, and video. Throughout the live show the audience is immersed in a universe without benchmark. VACUUM is not just an everyday concert experience. Directed by Aïda Gabriels, the music of David Poltrock (POLTROCK) and Adriaan de Roover (OAKTREE) enters into battle with dance, light and video. Poltrock and de Roover have developed a sound choreography that allows the spectator to spend an hour in a constantly evolving audiovisual landscape. The sounds move around and grow from the most intimate, almost claustrophobic textures to monumental and crushing walls of noise.

Dance, video and light add a visual and physical element to the experience. Images by videographer Wim Piqueur are merging with the immersive light design by designer Jan Van Lindt. Structures and textures are projected and elements from reality are decontextualised. A moving body moves on a landscape of sound, light and video. Dancer Pieter Desmet performs a physical battle game that brings to the fore both brutal forces, primeval instincts and human fragility.
